Dating back to 2009, Mediate BC has presented an annual award to acknowledge individuals who have made significant contributions to the field of conflict resolution in BC. The original Susanna Jani Award for Supporting Excellence in Mediation was named after an important contributor to the development of the BC Mediator Roster Society, one of our two founding organizations. (See Our History for more.)
In 2025, MBC’s Board of Directors updated the award to better reflect its increased focus on areas of reconciliation and social justice, in addition to its continuing public interest focus. Thus, the revamped Excellence in Conflict Resolution Awards now include three categories to better recognize deserving individuals: the Reconciliation, Mentor and Builder Awards.
The current call for nominations if open until March 15, 2026. The winners will be announced at the Looking Out, Looking In: Lenses on Conflict Resolution Conference on May 1.
