(he/him)
For over 15 years, Robert has mediated a wide range of complex family law disputes across British Columbia. He also works as an instructor and coach with Mediate BC, where he teaches mediation theory and skills to professionals pursuing mediation training. Earlier in his career, Robert served as manager of Family Mediation Services at Mediate BC, where he co-developed a province-wide initiative that expanded access to mediation and strengthened training for emerging mediators.
Growing up surrounded by dispute resolution professionals in his family, Robert learned from an early age the importance of communication, collaboration, and inclusivity. Guided by these principles, he began his career in mediation after law school, making an intentional choice based on his belief that mediation and negotiation can provide families with effective, timely, and accessible alternatives to litigation. Throughout his career, Robert has remained committed to improving access to justice by providing inclusive and accessible mediation services to diverse communities. His work focuses on helping families achieve durable and equitable outcomes, particularly for those who may be disproportionately affected by barriers to justice.
Robert is a licensed attorney in Washington State, a Registered Roster Mediator with Mediate BC, and is currently completing the requirements to become a licensed lawyer in British Columbia.
Outside of his professional work, Robert enjoys spending time with his wife, family, and friends. He leads an active lifestyle that includes hiking the Grouse Grind, weightlifting, and travelling abroad. His favourite destinations include Tanzania, Japan, the Greek Islands, Ireland, Hong Kong, and the Galápagos Islands.
