Nikida Steel

(she/her)

Nikida Steel (“Awinita” Little-Fawn) is a bilingual Métis (Saulteaux) Community leader, coach, mediator, and social advocate who lives and works on the unceded territories of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), Skwxwú7mesh (Squamish), and səl̓ílwətaʔɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) Nations, also known as East Vancouver.

She is the founder of Indiginuity Solutions Association, a peer-run nonprofit dedicated to survivor-led education, trauma-informed systems change, and equitable collaboration with Indigenous and non-Indigenous communities. Nikida’s work blends lived experience, policy insight, and formal education (with honours) in Investigation & Enforcement, Collaborative Conflict Resolution, Family Justice, and Inclusive Leadership predominantly through the Justice Institute of British Columbia.

Her path toward mediation emerged through years of advocacy addressing systemic barriers in housing, justice, and social services. She is passionate about strengthening dialogue across difference—especially where law, culture, and human dignity intersect. Her approach emphasizes relationship-building, accountability, and creating space for authentic voice and healing in conflict processes.

Alongside her community work, Nikida served as a federal candidate for Vancouver East, advancing equity, environmental responsibility, and restorative governance. She is also a mother/grandmother, writer, and lifelong learner who finds grounding in family, culture, and the natural world.
