Board Recruitment 2026

March 4, 2026

Mediate BC is seeking new members of the Board of Directors to begin September 2026.

Mediate BC (MBC) is a not-for-profit organization committed to transforming approaches to conflict through the development and delivery of accessible, inclusive, and innovative conflict resolution services. We achieve our mission by managing rosters of qualified conflict resolution practitioners, offering accessible, inclusive, and innovative conflict resolution training and programs, and engaging in public education, research, and innovation.

We seek Board members with a diversity of experience (both personal and professional), and a strong interest in expanding collaborative dispute resolution while bringing an equity lens to that work. We are a voluntary “working board”, committed to advancing access to justice for all people. Therefore, we seek to recruit a diverse Board of Directors that shares this commitment and represents the communities we serve. We encourage expressions of interest from individuals with diverse backgrounds and experiences, especially Indigenous people, racialized people, queer people, people living with disabilities, and people of marginalized genders. Individuals living in rural and remote areas are particularly encouraged to apply.

MBC is excited to hear from all interested candidates and will consider applicants from all backgrounds and areas of experience. However, we have identified specific knowledge and experience that would benefit the organization.

  • We strongly encourage applications from Indigenous candidates who wish to support MBC’s work on Indigenous conflict resolution practices and decolonization.
  • We strongly encourage applicants with experience in strategic thinking around funding and diversifying revenue.
  • We are seeking more youth representatives (18-29 years of age) and encourage younger individuals to apply.
  • We encourage applicants with experience in board governance and policy oversight, including policy development, review, and renewal in alignment with governance best practices.
  • We encourage applicants who would be interested in serving as Board Secretary and have experience with agenda preparation, taking clear and accurate minutes, and maintaining records and documentation.
  • We encourage applicants with legal and financial backgrounds.

In addition, we welcome applications from individuals with interest and experience related to conflict resolution in the following areas:

  • Arbitration and Med/Arb
  • Conflict resolution processes beyond mediation and arbitration, including culturally specific processes
  • Serving rural and remote communities

The Board meets five to six times per year. In addition, Board members participate in Board committees or working groups. Board members also contribute to the organization’s operations while meeting our governance responsibilities.

If you would like to be considered for a position on MBC’s Board of Directors or for more information, please send your expression of interest or query to Leah McIntyre by 5:00 pm on Wednesday, April 15, 2026. Current Mediate BC Roster mediators are welcome to apply.

All members of the Board of Directors are available to answer any questions. Leah can connect you with the appropriate Board or staff member to address questions about our work in specific areas of interest.
