Alana McFarlane

(she/her)

As a strategic designer, Alana McFarlane founded a creative studio to support leaders in their mission to bring better health and well-being to people, communities and society. Alana advises on how to effectively communicate and engage through interest-based approaches that promote sustainable outcomes. She works across sectors to foster mutually beneficial relationships with local communities, Indigenous peoples, governments, industry, academia and non-profits.

Alana is a candidate in the Justice Institute of BC’s  Collaborative Conflict Resolution and Royal Roads University’s Management & Leadership programs. She holds a BA, Philosophy and certificates in Public Participation and 2-D Design.

From her viewpoint, healthier communities are possible by advancing belonging for all people. When navigating complexity and chaos, holding space to live deeply in questions with others offers the potential for us to move with clarity and creativity towards reimagined relationships.

Alana lives in the Lower Mainland on the unceded, ancestral lands and waters of the hən̓q̓əmin̓əm̓ and Sḵwx̱wú7mesh sníchim speaking peoples. Alana chooses a favourite 50mm lens to refocus her perspective on the everyday and is learning to remember the language of her Welsh grandmother.
