Family Mediation Program (FMP)

NOTE: Please contact our office for updates on the FMP's availability in your area.

General

Since 2004, we have assisted many families in resolving a wide variety of family disputes without the need to go to court. The Family Mediation Program (FMP) provides the opportunity for a Lead Mediator and an Associate Mediator to work together as a Mediation Team to provide clients with the assistance they need. The areas we serve have expanded to include: the Lower Mainland, Vancouver Island, Thompson-Okanagan, and Peace River regions.

The key objectives of the program are:

Excellent Client Service - The FMP provides families with access to mediation services for a wide variety of family disputes including parenting responsibilities, child support and property division.

The FMP uses a co-mediation model, using two mediators instead of one. Families benefit from the added insight, wisdom, life experience, intuition and expertise of both members of the Mediation Team.

A Tailored Mentoring Experience - The FMP provides Associate Mediators with an opportunity to develop skills and gain practical experience by co-mediating cases with highly experienced Lead Mediators in their region in a wide variety of family disputes including parenting responsibilities, child support and property division. One of FMP's main goals is to assist Associate Mediators in acquiring the practice hours required to become a Mediate BC Family Roster Mediator (see how to become a Roster Mediator here: Family Roster Admission).
